Zeus Traffic Manager / splash.riverbed.com/stingray
« on: April 25, 2013, 06:27:14 pm »
Hi zeus-users,

Some of you may recall the Zeus 'KnowledgeHub' site, where we (Zeus) posted ideas and examples of how to use Zeus Traffic Manager...

I'm pleased to say that finally, "it's back!".  If you're using Zeus Traffic Manager, or the Riverbed-branded Stingray Traffic Manager (same product, new name), then please check out http://splash.riverbed.com/stingray - the beginning of a new Riverbed-hosted community around each of our products.

Almost all of the old Zeus KnowledgeHub content is there, updated and re-tested against the latest release.  There's a discussion/question forum to raise questions or comments if you wish, and a lot of new internal documentation.

If you have time, check it out, register for an account and then hit the 'Follow' button on the Stingray page, and on any content or users you are interested in.  We'll email you a regular digest of content updates, and you can ask questions or contribute answers.

Any questions/comments - please reply to this thread or email me directly - thanks

Owen

ps.  None of this takes away from the great zeus-users.org community, and I'll continue to keep an eye open and contribute when I can - thank you Karsten for hosting and managing it

January 2011: If you are a Zeus customer, we'd like to get your input into our roadmap planning. We are conducting roadmap interviews through to February 2011, and if you would like to participate, please complete our Roadmap Survey.

What's the purpose of the survey?

Your answers to the roadmap survey will allow us to gather some background information about how you use Zeus traffic management products and about the application delivery challenges that you face. Equipped with this information, we can tailor a roadmap interview with you to make it relevant and ensure it's a good use of your time.

... and the roadmap interview?

At your convenience, we will hold an informal, confidential discussion that covers a range of potential product topics for Zeus. We want to understand the challeges you face with Zeus software and the wider challenges that Zeus may be able to help you address.

Eligibility?

If you've used Zeus software, in production or development, as an end-user, integrator or partner, please complete the survey and we'll be in touch. If you're not a Zeus user, drop us a line at products@zeus.com.

Timescales

The survey is open until the end of January 2011, and roadmap discussions will take place through to the end of February. The survey starts here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NBNGLK9.

Any other questions?

products@zeus.com or reply to this post - thank you very much.

Zeus Traffic Manager / ZXTM Plugin for Eclipse
« on: March 23, 2009, 02:42:08 pm »
Another announcement from Zeus - if you're accustomed to using an IDE like Eclipse to manage your application code, then you'll find the features in the new ZXTM Plugin for Eclipse invaluable.

With the plugin, you can now use Eclipse to manage and deploy all of your TrafficScript rules, as well as your Java Extensions. Eclipse gives you syntax highlighting, code completion, function documentation, syntax checking and one-click deployment to all the ZXTM systems in your cluster. You can also compare and drag-and-drop rules between clusters.

Zeus Traffic Manager / ZXTM Development Licenses
« on: March 23, 2009, 12:59:13 pm »
Zeus have just announced a new Development License program, whereby anyone can develop and test applications using ZXTM at no charge.

If you're an existing customer, you can obtain a site-wide license that can be used anywhere in your organization; if you're an application developer, you can obtain a license for personal use.  The Development Licenses provide the full functionality of ZXTM (software and virtual appliance).  They are licensed only for non-production use.  Find out more at http://www.zeus.com/

There is no formal Zeus support for these licenses; you can use the http://zeus-users.org/ forum or Zeus' newly-launched Developer's Forum at http://knowledgehub.zeus.com/forum/.

Zeus Traffic Manager / ZXTM 5.1
« on: December 08, 2008, 01:56:04 pm »
We've just released ZXTM version 5.1, with a number of improvements and new features.

Top of the list is a completely new 'Event Handing' capability, giving you much more control to configure how ZXTM should respond when an event you're interested in occurs. There's a brief description on KnowledgeHub, at http://knowledgehub.zeus.com/articles/2008/12/08/introducing_event_handling_in_zxtm_5_1.

There are lots of little incremental changes to the UI; you should find it a little bit more responsive, and little touches like dynamically-updating displays of log files and a new status applet (looks just like the old one, but does not need Flash) should make the UI event more pleasant to use.

Changes to content caching make it even more efficient; pre-emptive cache refreshing will avoid the spike of traffic when a busy cache entry expires by updating the cache in advance, and improved SMP (multi-core) cache processing gives bug performance boosts over 5.0 on machines with many CPU cores.

There are updates to SSL/TLS, support for VLANs on the virtual and hardware appliances (VLANs were always available with ZXTM software), and lots of other fixes.

For a full list of changes, take a look at the release announcement and RELEASE NOTES at http://knowledgehub.zeus.com/news/2008/12/08/zxtm_5_1_released.

regards

Owen
